This great, out and back uphill training circuit is at Windy Hill in Portola Valley.

It's a simple run that begins in the parking lot along Portola Road (003). Once I make it through the trail entrance I head left along Spring Ridge and take a right at the first trail junction (001). Here is where my escalade begins. I follow this well hardened fire break for 2.8 miles all the way up to Skyline Boulevard and enjoy some powerful views of the busy peninsula below. After a short breather at the top (002), I turn around, head back, and consider a double Spring Ridge!

Distance and Elevation Profile

= Degree of difficulty. 1 paw is an easy run. 5 could hurt!!

Data collected using a Garmin E-Trex Vista Global Positioning System (GPS). Because positions are calculated using satellites it is not always possible to have an exact fix on the GPS. Many of these circuits are under dense tree cover and through hidden chasms which can interupt reception. Maps and profiles created using TOPO!® ©2002 National Geographic CD-ROM software.
