Long Ridge is a 1,011-acre preserve located on the western slopes of Skyline Boulevard, known for its spectacular views of Big Basin State Park and Butano Ridge. Grasslands interspersed with oak, madrone, and Douglas fir forests characterize the area. Sempervirens Fund provided critical support for acquisition of a portion of this preserve.
There are 12 miles of trails on the preserve, including a trail in the southeastern corner of the site which connects with Upper Stevens Creek County Park trails and Saratoga Gap. A 7.3-mile loop trail is possible, using trails on Long Ridge and Monte Bello Open Space Preserves and Upper Stevens Creek County Park. The Pacific Coast is visible from the preserve's southern trails. The preserve also contains a 3-mile segment of the Bay Area Ridge Trail. A hiking-only trail leads to Portola State Park (no bikes or horses).
